About the Society

Who We Are

Founded in 2026 by a small group of local historians and independent researchers, the Suffolk Paranormal & Mystery Society is excited to explore the unexplained phenomena of Suffolk and the surrounding region with rigour, care, and an abiding respect for the communities we serve.

Our Mission

Serious Research into Unexplained Phenomena

We exist to investigate, document, and preserve accounts of paranormal and anomalous phenomena in Suffolk and the wider Tidewater region. We do not sensationalise. We do not trespass. We do not draw conclusions our evidence cannot support. Our work sits at the intersection of local history, folklore studies, and empirical investigation — and we believe those three disciplines are stronger together than apart.

The unexplained deserves the same rigour we would bring to any other question of history or science.

Our Approach

How We Work

01

Document First

Every investigation begins with thorough historical and archival research before any fieldwork takes place. We want to understand a location's history before we attempt to interpret what may be happening there.

02

Eliminate the Explicable

We apply a rigorous process of elimination to every reported phenomenon. Structural causes, environmental factors, and psychological explanations are all considered before any anomalous conclusion is entertained.

03

Record with Precision

Field notes, photographs, audio recordings, and environmental readings are all logged to a consistent standard. Our documentation protocols were developed over thirty years and are reviewed annually.

04

Publish Honestly

We publish our findings — including null results and inconclusive investigations — in full. A case file that concludes 'no anomalous phenomena detected' is as valuable to the archive as one that does not.
